So I went to Grand Canyon. It was great and awesome and beautiful and so surreal and breathtaking. Everything I thought it would be. However, it is not the canyon I remember the best, it was not the canyon that almost made me cry or the canyon that left me sitting with goosebumps. It was the 53 year old host we had in our coach car on the Grand Canyon train . Her name was Morgan and I will never forget her.
This is her story; She was a blackjack cardealer on the Strip in Las Vegas before she met her husband. They moved to Williams, a small town in the middle of nowhere, Arizona, where they had two sons, whom they home schooled until they were old enough to go to college. They both have a degree. One works on the Strip in Las Vegas, while the other one designs websites in California.
One Christmas 14 years ago Morgan and her husband was on their way home after having bought a Christmas tree, they got in a car accident. She survived, he didn't. Then she turned 40 and Morgan decided to build their dream house, by herself. After buying a lot 36 miles from everything such as stores and gas stations, she started building the house they had always dreamed about.
It took her a year. By using solar energy and a fireplace, she lives a perfectly normal life, working 4 days a week, accompanied by her four bear dogs, she is never alone. I don't know why, but she made a bigger impression on me than the Grand Canyon, and if I just wasted 5 minutes of your time reading about Morgan, then I don't really care, because if you can't be touched by other people then I don't see how you can be touched by anything at all.
..life is about the moments that take your breath away.
Peace. Ida.
